ACUNS

Academic Council on the United Nations System

(Deputy-Director, Tokyo Liaison Office)

The Academic Council on the United Nations System is an independent, non-profit association of academics, scholars, and former as well as current UN practitioners. It aims to stimulate and support high-quality research and teaching on the role of the United Nations system in international relations.

ACUNS was founded in 1987 at Dartmouth College and has since been hosted at Brown University, Yale University, Wilfrid Laurier University, and Coventry University.

ACUNS currently has over 650 individual and 42 institutional members in 55 countries and continues to keep scholars and practitioners engaged in research, writing, teaching, and policy practice related to the United Nations, the UN system, and international organization from a broader perspective.

The ACUNS Tokyo Liaison Office, led by Dr. Sukehiro Hasegawa and of which I am currently the Deputy-Director, a former Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, organizes a wide range of UN-related events.
